M365Clarity · Unlocked but Unused
Having a feature turned on in your Microsoft 365 tenant isn't the same as your users actually using it. Many organisations invest in configuring Microsoft 365 features — Teams, SharePoint, OneDrive, Planner, Forms — only to find that users continue using older tools, email attachments, and shadow IT alternatives because nobody drove adoption.
M365Clarity's Unlocked but Unused tab identifies this gap: features that are available in your plan, properly configured, but showing low or zero active usage from the workload adoption data in your tenant.
The tab cross-references your plan's feature set and configuration status against workload activity data from Microsoft Graph. It highlights workloads like Teams, OneDrive, and SharePoint where you have licensed users but low active usage rates — and quantifies how many users have access but aren't using it.
The adoption opportunity: A workload with 10% adoption among 100 licensed users represents 90 users who could potentially get more value from their existing licence — no additional spend required.
The most frequently found adoption gaps in Microsoft 365 tenants are SharePoint (users emailing attachments instead of sharing links), Microsoft Planner (teams using spreadsheets for task tracking), Microsoft Forms (paper or Google Forms instead), and OneDrive (files saved locally rather than in the cloud). Each of these represents a feature already paid for and available.
Identifying the gap is the first step. Closing it requires targeted user training, champion programmes, and sometimes policy changes — for example, making OneDrive the default save location via Intune policy, or configuring Teams as the default calling solution. M365Clarity gives you the data to prioritise where adoption investment will have the most impact.
M365Clarity scans your Microsoft 365 configuration and shows you exactly what's in your plan, what's configured, and what's sitting idle — in plain English.
