MSP remediation scoping in Microsoft 365 — from scan to quote

A Microsoft 365 scan tells you what's wrong. It doesn't tell you what fixing it will actually take — and that gap gets filled ad hoc, differently, every time, by every MSP.

A finding is not a quote

A scan report is a list of technical states: MFA not enforced, six permanent Global Administrators, no Conditional Access covering legacy authentication. Useful for diagnosis. Not useful, on its own, for a commercial conversation with a client about what fixing it will cost them.

Turning findings into a scoped engagement usually means a spreadsheet, a mental estimate, or a number pulled together the morning of the call — built from scratch, from memory, every single time a new tenant needs it.

What Remediation Scope actually does

M365Clarity's Remediation Scope panel turns a scan's open findings into a starting point for that conversation. Search by finding name or category, or browse category by category, to add red and amber findings to your scope — a search-and-add picker rather than a single long list, since a genuinely unhealthy tenant can easily have 50 or more open findings.

Each finding you add shows a rough effort range and a suggested resource — PM, Architect, or Engineer — plus the existing step-by-step fix guide, expandable inline without leaving the panel. Click any effort range to override it with your own number. Add a short note if the client's situation needs one. When you're ready, copy the whole scope out as plain text, with totals broken down by resource.

These are draft planning bands, not a quote. Every range is a starting estimate, clearly marked as such, meant to be corrected by the person who actually knows the client's environment. Nothing here is meant to be copied unchecked into a Statement of Work — the point is a starting point, not a finished number.

Internal by design

Remediation Scope lives inside the Executive tab, visually and deliberately separate from everything else in it — the AI-written narrative and the executive briefing PDF that are built to hand to a client. Remediation Scope is styled distinctly and marked internal precisely so the two are never confused with each other. It's a working tool for the person scoping the engagement, not a client deliverable.

Turn your next scan into a scoping conversation

M365Clarity scans a Microsoft 365 tenant and surfaces exactly what needs fixing — then helps you scope the work, not just report on it.
